All about the Chor Bazaar Or Thieves Market Tour.

Chor Bazaar is one of the oldest and largest flea markets in India. The word Chor means thief in Hindi but legend has it that originally, it was called Shor Bazaar, which meant “Noisy Market.” Somewhere along the way Shor became Chor (thief) as the British starting mispronouncing it and stolen goods were sold in the market, living up to its name. Today mostly second hand goods are sold besides antiques,Victorian and Art Deco furniture, old Bollywood posters, coins, brass ware, old locks and tonnes of other stuff.

Although the lanes are narrow and can be crowded, it is an interesting place to visit and shop that will give you a glimpse of old world Mumbai where shopping is still done on the streets and not in malls. If you are interested in shopping then remember to bargain and be careful of duplicates and copies!
